The STIHL HTA 100 cordless pole pruner is designed for professional tree maintenance, landscaping and orchard work. Its lightweight, fixed-length shaft makes it particularly well suited to regular pruning and thinning where you need good control without the additional weight of a telescopic machine.
Powered by STIHL’s AP / ALLPRO battery system, the HTA 100 combines a 1.1 kW brushless motor with a 30 cm (12″) guide bar and 1/4″ Picco Micro 3 saw chain. It can cut branches up to 20 cm in diameter, while the redesigned cutting head improves visibility and makes positioning the saw between branches easier.
At just 3.0 kg without the battery, but including the guide bar and chain, it’s a practical choice for professionals who regularly work at height. Battery operation also makes it suitable for noise-sensitive locations such as residential gardens, schools and public spaces.
STIHL HTA 100 Battery Run Times
The HTA 100 is compatible with STIHL AP / ALLPRO batteries. STIHL recommends the AP 200 P, which provides up to 42 minutes of working time, equivalent to approximately 260 cuts through 10 x 10 cm timber under test conditions.
| Battery | AP 20 | AP 200 S | AP 200 P | AP 30 | AP 300 S | AP 500 S |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Run time | 27 mins | 40 mins | 42 mins | 51 mins | 53 mins | 63 mins |
For extended working periods, STIHL also lists working times of up to 202 minutes with the AR 2000 L backpack battery and 303 minutes with the AR 3000 L. Actual run times vary depending on the thickness of the branches, cutting conditions and operating demands.
Why Choose the STIHL HTA 100 Cordless Pole Pruner?
Lightweight, fixed-length shaft for better handling
One of the HTA 100’s biggest advantages is its straightforward fixed-shaft design. At 182 cm long, it provides useful reach for pruning trees and maintaining branches without the additional weight of a telescopic mechanism.
Compared with the HTA 110, which extends to 277 cm, the HTA 100 is noticeably lighter. With the guide bar and chain fitted, but without the battery, it weighs 3.0 kg compared with 4.8 kg for the HTA 110.
If you regularly work at a similar height and don’t need the extra reach, the HTA 100 is the lighter, easier-to-manoeuvre option.
Powerful cutting with improved visibility
The 1.1 kW brushless motor delivers the power needed for professional pruning and thinning, while the 30 cm guide bar and 1/4″ Picco Micro 3 saw chain produce accurate cuts through branches up to 20 cm thick.
STIHL has redesigned the gearbox to reduce weight at the cutting head and improve your view of the branch being cut. This makes it easier to position the saw accurately, particularly when working amongst closely spaced branches.
A sturdy branch hook is also fitted, allowing you to pull down loose or cut branches that remain caught in the tree.
Consistent cordless power without petrol
Unlike petrol-powered pole pruners, the HTA 100 starts at the press of a trigger and requires no fuel mixing or engine starting procedure. Its brushless EC motor is efficient, quiet and requires relatively little maintenance.
STIHL’s CONSTANT POWER technology maintains cutting performance as the battery charge decreases, rather than gradually losing power throughout the working session.
With an IPX4 splashwater protection rating, the HTA 100 is also designed for professional outdoor use in damp and rainy conditions.
Practical features for everyday maintenance
The HTA 100 includes several features that make regular pruning work easier:
- Side-mounted chain tensioning: Adjust the chain without having to reach around the cutting attachment.
- Transparent chain oil tank: Check the oil level at a glance without removing the cap.
- Magnesium gearbox: Reduces weight at the cutting head while maintaining durability.
- Integrated direction guide: A raised line on the sprocket cover helps you position the saw accurately before cutting.
- Comfortable grip sleeve: Provides a secure hold when working at different angles.
- Shoulder strap attachment: Allows you to use a compatible harness for additional support.
