What is the STIHL ALLPRO System?

What are tabless battery cells?

Conventional lithium-ion cells transfer energy through small metal tabs. The tabless cells used in ALLPRO Performance batteries allow current to flow across a wider part of the cell. This helps reduce resistance and heat generation, allowing the battery to deliver higher output and accept a faster charge. How fast do STIHL ALLPRO batteries charge?

Compatible ALLPRO Performance batteries can reach 80% charge in as little as nine minutes when used with the STIHL AL 1802 MO charger under the correct conditions. That figure needs to be understood properly. It refers to charging to 80%, not a complete charge, and requires:

• An AP 100 P, AP 200 P, AP 300 P or AP 300 PC battery
• The compatible AL 1802 MO high-speed charger
• Suitable battery and ambient temperatures

ALLPRO batteries can still be charged using compatible existing AP chargers, but they will not achieve the fastest advertised charging time. For many users, an existing charger may remain perfectly adequate.

How long do ALLPRO batteries last?

STIHL Performance batteries are designed for intensive professional use and up to 3,000 charge cycles under the relevant test conditions. Reduced heat generation and intelligent battery management help protect the cells during repeated use and charging. This refers to the long-term service life of the battery rather than how long it runs from a single charge. Runtime still depends on the battery capacity, the tool being used, the selected power level and the work being carried out. Can ALLPRO batteries be used in the rain?

ALLPRO Performance batteries are IPX5 rated, providing protection against water sprayed from different directions. This is an improvement over the IPX4 splash-water protection found on many existing AP batteries and ALLPRO Standard batteries. Water resistance does not mean batteries should be submerged or stored while wet. Users should continue to follow the operating, charging and storage instructions supplied with the battery, charger and tool.
