Stihl FSA 250 Cordless Brushcutter

The STIHL FSA 250 Cordless Brushcutter is a high-output professional machine designed to replace petrol brushcutters in demanding landscaping and grounds maintenance work.

Built on the STIHL AP battery platform, it delivers consistent cutting power with lower noise, reduced vibration and less day-to-day maintenance, making it well suited to contractors, estates and municipal work where reliability and productivity matter.

What the STIHL FSA 250 Is Designed For

The FSA 250 is built for professional users who need serious cutting performance without petrol, whether that’s large-area grass cutting, scrub clearance, young growth management or mixed vegetation work across a full day.

Power and Cutting Performance

High Output Cordless Power

With up to 1.6 kW of power, the FSA 250 sits at the top end of STIHL’s cordless brushcutter range. It has the grunt for heavy grass and brush work where lighter battery models start to feel out of their depth.

Constant Power Under Load

STIHL’s Constant Power electronics keep performance consistent as the battery discharges, so it doesn’t gradually tail off mid-job. That matters on long runs where you’re trying to keep output steady and predictable.

Large 480 mm Cutting Circle

The 480 mm cutting circle is aimed at productivity, letting you cover ground quickly when clearing long grass or working open areas. It’s a proper advantage on bigger sites where time adds up fast.

Control and Ergonomics for Long Days

Two-Handed Handlebar for Efficient Sweeping

The two-handed grip supports a natural sweeping motion and helps keep the tool stable, especially when mowing wider areas. The handlebar can be adjusted without tools, which is useful if multiple operators share the machine.

Three-Stage Speed Control

Speed can be adjusted in three stages depending on the work. Running lower speed where appropriate reduces battery draw, while higher output is there when you’re into tougher material.

Battery Options and Runtime Reality

AP Battery System and Direct Battery Mounting

The FSA 250 takes STIHL AP batteries directly in the motor housing, keeping the setup simple and mobile. It also supports longer runtimes with AR backpack batteries for crews who need extended working time.

Choosing the Right Battery

The recommended AP 500 S is the sensible pairing when you want the machine working as intended. Smaller batteries will run it, but you’ll be changing packs more often, especially in heavier cutting.

Tool Versatility and Where It Fits in the Range

Compatible With Multiple Cutting Tools

Supplied with the 300-3 brush knife, the FSA 250 can also be used with other STIHL cutting tools depending on the job, including line heads and alternative blades. That makes it suitable for mixed work rather than being locked into one setup.

Professional Build and Wet-Weather Readiness

It’s designed for daily professional use with a durable drivetrain and IPX4 splash protection, so it’s not fazed by typical UK working conditions.

Where the FSA 250 Sits in STIHL’s Cordless Range

The FSA 250 is a top-tier cordless brushcutter designed as a true petrol alternative. It sits well above domestic cordless models in power and durability, and it’s aimed at professional users who need output, reliability and speed of work across real sites.
