Weighing just 182 g and fitted with a red 335 mm wooden handle for easy visibility, the Okatsune 405 offers traditional Japanese craftsmanship in a simple, effective design. Available from Suffolk Mowers with full UK support and lifetime warranty.
Light, Sharp, and Built for Precision
The Okatsune 405 Sickle reflects Japan’s long tradition of fine garden toolmaking — built for gardeners who value control and accuracy. Its small, curved 150 mm blade allows fine, deliberate cutting when trimming ornamental grasses, edging beds, or weeding around delicate plants. Every movement feels natural and precise.
Japanese Steel Craftsmanship
Each Okatsune 405 is forged in Japan from high-carbon Izumo Yasugi steel — the same metal used in Okatsune’s professional shears. This steel holds a razor edge through heavy use, cutting cleanly through fibrous or soft material without tearing. Only light pressure is needed for smooth, clean slicing.
Comfort and Ease of Use
At just 182 g, the Okatsune 405 is exceptionally light and well-balanced. The 335 mm red wooden handle offers a natural, comfortable grip and stands out clearly in long grass, making it easy to spot during work. It’s a practical, reliable hand tool built for gardeners who prefer precision over power tools.
Best For
- Trimming small patches of grass or wildflowers

- Weeding and edging around borders
