The Okatsune 201 Bonsai Scissors are a traditional Japanese design made for precise, controlled pruning. With 55 mm blades, they strike the perfect balance between reach and accuracy, ideal for maintaining bonsai, boxwood, pine, and other fine ornamental plants.
Hand-forged in Japan from Izumo Yasugi high-carbon steel, these scissors combine sharpness, balance, and durability. Available from Suffolk Mowers as a special-order item, the Okatsune 201 delivers professional-grade precision trusted by bonsai artists and gardeners worldwide.
Balanced for Precision and Comfort
The Okatsune 201 bridges the gap between the long-bladed 200 and the compact 203 models, offering both reach and fine control. The 55 mm blades allow you to work deep within foliage for accurate shaping, thinning, and refinement, while the ergonomic handle alignment ensures a natural, comfortable grip during extended use.
Japanese Craftsmanship and Quality
Each pair is hand-forged in Japan from Izumo Yasugi steel — a high-carbon alloy prized for its edge retention and strength. The result is a tool that cuts cleanly and smoothly, minimising stress on delicate stems. A protective stopper absorbs closing pressure, making repetitive cutting easier on your hands.
Professional Versatility
The 201 is suited to detailed bonsai work, fine topiary, and ornamental pruning where precision matters most. The medium blade length gives excellent manoeuvrability without sacrificing cutting power, making it an ideal all-rounder for professional horticulturists and enthusiasts alike.
Maintenance and Care
Clean the blades after each use and apply a light coat of oil to prevent corrosion. Avoid cutting dry or woody material to preserve sharpness. For thicker stems, pair with the Okatsune 207 Heavy Duty Snips or 103 Secateurs. For extended reach, the Okatsune 200 is the natural companion tool.
Lifetime Warranty and Availability
Available through Suffolk Mowers with full UK support, the Okatsune 201 Bonsai Scissors come with a lifetime warranty. As a special-order item, delivery typically takes 2–3 weeks. Precision, comfort, and Japanese craftsmanship — built to perform for life.
