The STIHL AP 30 is a powerful step up for those who want longer runtimes and more flexibility across a wide range of AP System tools. With 270 Wh of energy and a manageable weight of 1.8 kg, it offers more capacity than the AP 20 while staying easy to handle.

Rated IPX4, the AP 30 is splash-resistant and can keep going in light rain or damp conditions. With cold start technology, it works down to -20 °C without compromising performance, so you can use it confidently all year.

The AP 30 maintains consistent power output from full to empty — no slow fade or surprise drop-offs. This means your tools stay effective and predictable right until the battery is fully depleted.

Ideal for demanding tools and longer tasks

Thanks to its higher capacity, the AP 30 is well-suited to more demanding tools and users who want to reduce downtime. It pairs well with hedge trimmers, pole pruners, brushcutters, and even certain blowers, delivering noticeably longer runtimes than the AP 20.

Durable build and flexible charging

The AP 30 supports up to 1,200 charge cycles and works with the full range of STIHL chargers. On an AL 101 charger, it takes about 235 minutes to reach 80% and 295 minutes for a full charge. Faster chargers like the AL 501 reduce this dramatically — down to 30 minutes for 80% and 50 minutes to full — helping you stay on track.

Solid runtimes for a wide range of tools

Expect up to 216 minutes on hedge trimmers, around 250 minutes on sweepers like the KGA 770, and 253 minutes or more on mowers such as the RMA 448 PV. It also performs well with pole pruners, top-handle saws, and brushcutters — making it a versatile mid-range choice.

If you want more working time without jumping up to a backpack battery, the AP 30 offers an excellent balance of weight, runtime, and price.

Where not to use the AP 30 battery

While the AP 30 can power nearly all AP System tools, it isn’t ideal for the most power-hungry tools or heavy continuous cutting. These tools can still run on it but may require frequent recharges or run at reduced performance.

Not recommended for:

• High-demand saws: MSA 300, MSA 220 T/TC-O — limited runtime under heavy loads
• Larger blowers: BGA 200, BGA 300 — shorter runtime and reduced air output
• Clearing saws and big brushcutters: FSA 200, FSA 400 — runtime and power are better supported by higher capacity or backpack batteries
• Large lawn mowers and continuous mowing: RMA 756 V, RMA 765 V — enough for small jobs, but higher capacity batteries suit large areas better

If you often work with these heavy-duty tools, consider stepping up to the AP 300 S, AP 500 S, or AR series batteries for longer sessions and stronger power delivery.
