Choosing the Right Stihl Mowing Line
Stihl produces a wide range of nylon line types to suit different jobs, head types, and trimmer power levels. Line is colour-coded by profile, helping you choose based on durability, noise level, and cutting strength. All Stihl line is made to resist fraying, welds, and premature snapping under load.
Mowing Line Types by Colour & Profile
- Yellow (Round): Flexible and low-noise — ideal for general trimming
- Green (Quiet): Twisted profile — reduced noise and smooth operation
- Red (Square): More aggressive cut — better on thick grass and coarse weeds
- Black (DuroCut segments): Tough pre-cut line for DuroCut heads — high durability on heavy ground

- 2.0 mm: Light domestic trimmers
