What Is the STIHL AK Battery System?
The AK System is STIHL’s mid-range cordless platform for domestic users. It runs on removable 36V batteries (AK 10, AK 20, AK 30), which can be used across multiple tools. You can mow the lawn, trim the hedge, blow leaves, and prune trees — all with one battery system.
Who Is the AK System For?
The AK range is ideal for UK homeowners with medium or large gardens. Whether you’re mowing the lawn, tidying up shrubs, or cutting firewood, these tools offer more power and runtime than entry-level cordless kits, while still being quiet and easy to use.

STIHL’s AK tools deliver consistent performance and simple operation. They’re lightweight, run cleanly with no emissions, and charge quickly using one of three compatible chargers. Built-in LED indicators show battery status, and the system is maintenance-friendly compared to petrol tools.

All tools are available individually or as kits with batteries and chargers. If you already own an AK battery, it works with every tool in the system.
Battery Charging Times and Compatibility
The AK batteries work with STIHL’s AL 101 and AL 301 chargers, these chargers are shared across both the AK and AP systems. LED lights show charge level and any faults, such as overheating or battery issues.
